What I’m Making – Ink + Paper collages

I started writing this post several times and it got soooooooo long it would take you years to read it. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration but it was getting absurdly long.) So I made a video instead. Much more fun for me and hopefully more fun for you too. 🙂

I’ve self-exiled myself from my studio because the heat in there is making me crazy. Which has led to making art on the sofa and a new love – making collages from ink and paper. It’s been a wonderful discovery for me and I’m embracing it. Here’s what I have so far.

Thank you for sharing your sketchbooks in a video format. Love seeing those collages! Keep it up! I’m at the same place as you in regards to making art for myself right now. I’ve been playing in my artist made sketchbook/journals for the last few weeks and I’m loving the process.

Thank you for sharing your creative sketchbook work with us. They are wonderful. Such a great idea to switch mediums in the dog-days of summer.

Just watched the video… great idea to do that, I enjoyed every minute. At the end you said you are just going to make stuff. I’m going to use that as my theme for August. Thanks!

I LOVE that last sketchbook! Thanks for sharing the video. It is a fun way to see everything. I have those Faber Castell markers. I need to use them.

I really enjoyed seeing what you are working on. You make me want to do some “playing” with my sketchbooks and pens. I have a birthday coming up and have added some of the things you use to my “wish list.” Maybe I’ll even clean my studio to see what treasures I might “find.”

This is great. Thank you for showing the pens and your ideas. I feel really inspired. Are the copic markers pretty stinky (fumes) and how do you recommend dealing with the fumes from alcohol-based markers. I like to use alcohol based markers (I’ve been using Chartpak Ad markers) because I like the way they blend colored pencils but the smell is pretty strong and my 12-year-old son complains I’m stinking up the house (I don’t have a studio so I work at the dining room table.
